Charles “Chuck” Lollar Joins Edwards Kirby

National law practice adds 40 years of property rights, eminent domain legal expertise

Raleigh, N.C.  (May 24, 2016) Edwards Kirby, a national law practice led by former U.S. Senator John Edwards and David Kirby, has added eminent domain and property rights litigation as a practice area for the firm.  Attorney Charles “Chuck” Lollar, Sr. is joining the firm as Of Counsel in the Raleigh office to lead the firm’s eminent domain section. The new practice area will handle eminent domain and property rights claims in state and federal courts in both North Carolina and Virginia.

Lollar has dedicated his nearly 40-year legal career to representing landowners in eminent domain and property rights matters. He has represented landowners and managed eminent domain and constitutional property rights claims for plaintiffs including farmers, retail and commercial businesses, real estate developers, investors and other owners of private property, ranging from Fortune 100 companies to small business and homeowners.

“Chuck has a passion for protecting property rights that is clearly evident from the eminent domain recoveries he has secured for his clients over the course of his career,” said partner David Kirby. “His knowledge, dedication and experience in real estate law make him an invaluable advocate for people who have their properties condemned and are seeking just compensation.”

Edwards Kirby offers leading representation for plaintiffs in matters of personal injury, wrongful death, product safety, consumer protection, health care and medical liability. The firm has offices in Raleigh, N.C. and San Diego, Calif.

“There are many synergies between Edwards Kirby’s mission and my long established practice,” said Chuck Lollar. “I look forward to leveraging the strengths and experience of John Edwards and David Kirby and the firm as a whole for the benefit of our landowner clients.”

Chuck tried his first property rights case while in law school in 1976. He has lectured regularly at state and national conferences and published many articles on eminent domain and property rights. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1972) and his JD from the Washington and Lee University School of Law (1977). He has earned the highest (AV) peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the oldest attorney directory and rating service, and is also listed by Best Lawyers in America® for Eminent Domain and Condemnation and in Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers.
